Bill Tilney

Bill Tilney, RPCV Ethiopia .1962-1964, and GCCRPCV Vice President, recently competed in the
Texas State Senior Olympic Games.
Bill took the bronze medal in the Football Distance throw and the bronze medal
in the Football Accuracy throw. He also took the silver medal in the
Softball Distance throw and the Bronze medal in the Softball Accuracy throw.
He also took a silver medal in the 50 meter Freestyle Swim and the bronze medal
in the 50 meter Backstroke Swim. Also, Bill came in 4th in the 800 meter
run and he took the silver in the 400 meter dash. Well done!
He would like you to know that he is doing all this in the 70 -74 age group.
Bill taught Physical Geography and PE at Haile Selassie I Secondary School in
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Prior to this, he ran a 2 hour 46 minute marathon
at the Western Hemisphere Marathon in Southern California in 1960. He has
run all his life and played a variety of sports including softball, swimming and
football. While in Ethiopia, he ran with many long distance runners.
Sound like Bill has lead an active and healthy life.
